My first attempt at a bust in a couple of years and what an absolute pleasure it has been at the bench today.

This arrived in the post this morning but, like a good book, I simply couldn’t put it down (must be more careful with the superglue!)

Still a way to go but, for once, I am really happy with the progress.

Happy to be told where I am going wrong.

Brilliant start Graham! Here are a few photos of my original Gebirgsjäger Windjacke (Wind Jackets) for color reference.

Whoops! I thought it was a leather jacket he was wearing. Guess a repaint is in order. Thanks for that Patrick.

I think this is about as good as I can get it. Still a lot to learn but in the ‘flesh’ it looks to be probably my best to date. In the pictures, it looks a tad rough. This is a 1/12 scale bust and is considerably bigger in the pics than real life.

Need to get a stand for him so it will be a while before he is mounted so if there is anything I should do, please shout out. Lovely little bust which has been a real pleasure to paint and has given me confidence to do another.

Many thanks a Robert. It really is a very nice piece to work on. Might have to get ‘cunning plan’ next or ‘my precious’ the DAK bust.
