Absolutely fantastic painting. The range of tones is amazing and how all blends to create the mood is outstanding.
Mike, THANKS a lot for your art!

Thanks Steve & Barrie for acknowledgement on this fellow.
He was special chance to acknowledge part of my family's history.
I miss these large scale projects so may find time to return to try doing another signature piece next year.
Ta! Wayne - overdue thank you for commenting too.

Kind comments Brian as this variation is what I'm always striving for, as well as lifting overall presentation.
Great admirer of your dioramic flair with bust. Keen to have a go at this one day perhaps.

Sorry Misfit - missed your post on this thread. Thanks for commenting.
Yes you use thin layers for acrylics.
To keep these in control I was using W&N Blending medium, but now prefer Vallejo Medium which has a more milky appearance & helps keep flow manageable. This thins as well so tend not to use filtered water apart from cleaning brush. Highly recommend AK Interactive Brit WW1 as guarantee flat finish.
    Any further question mate?
Thanks Hop & Nap - appreciate support.
I haven’t painted any big fellows since this.
Have a special project boiling & hope to get in to it before year’s end.

OK, Mike, as you know, I'm a WWI airplane guy. On the few figures I've done, I've only used oils and enamels, so thanks for these tips on transitioning to acrylics.

    Thin layers….got it.....appreciate the guidance....

    FORWARD!

    Cheers from NYC,
    Michael

That's the Lewis Gun bust that I had referred to on a recent thread regarding the Youngs bust that only has a small section of the gun and that would be an outstanding bit of painting with the weathering placing this guy right onto the battlefields.

Superbly painted and weathered. He looks suitably knackered.
