Have any of the planet members obtained this new book from Andrea Press ?

It's a subject I've always been interested in,I saw it on the Historex website but it doesn't contain much information,like how many pages,text,photos ?

I would be interested to know if anyone has purchased it and could give me a little more information on it if possible.

I’d stick to Thomas Keneally. Napoleons last Island..a novel yes, but the history is accurate as far as anyone knows..very much doubt the Andrea book adds to the lexicon. There is now a decent airport apparently although it’s a pretty much godforsaken place.

David Chandlers campaigns of Napoleon , a must read for any student wishing to get a true insight to the man .
It takes you from his school days in Corsica to the end in StHelena

It has been out of print for many years but you may still be able to get it on request from your local library

Chandler is really at top of his game with military strategy..more recent assessments of Bonaparte are looking at the solid political stuff..from John Raulston Saul Voltaire’s Bastards, through Age of Anger by Pankaj Mishra. Both making stimulating links from Bonaparte and revolutionary France through contemporary populism..the relevance of the military stuff has had its day against the nature of present conflict...except perhaps the Spanish guerrilla part..as a cautionary tale
