Great job so far. Just one thing: Marine Corps collar emblems are not the same. They come in pairs so that the anchors both point inwards. You absolutely nailed the qualification badges and the Expert Rifle and Expert Pistol badges!

Yes, the pistol badge is too large. Also be aware that the EGA's on the collar and cover (hat)are not flat, they are raised and rounded, a 3-d relief of the globe if you will. Buttons on the "coat" (blouse in Marine Corps parlance) should also be rounded and have eagles and anchors on them. The pocket corners and flap are a little sharp pointed as well, should be a bit more rounded.

The pistol badge in relation to the rifle badge

The EGA's should look like this:

    And the buttons:

I would lose the cigarette as well. Maybe in the field in cammies, but not in an Alpha blouse. In the movie I think he smoked a stogie in true Hollywood fashion, but again, not in dress uniform. Looks more like him in his Spaghetti Western films smoking his cigarillo.

thanks Jason, will try to correct all of that,, I have some idea how to give some more 3d to EGA and badges but buttons .... more thinking and trials and errors ahead :)

    cheers

I think this is a very good likeness of Eastwood. I don't know what it is but I can't help going back to the second pic you posted on this thread and think it's the best. Maybe because it's a bit darker and picks up more shadow. Keep up the good work....

    Robert,
    My old friend,how are you?
Well I think you are starting to rub off on me. I am going to try my hand out on sculpting! I'm going to try to sculpt a 1/9th scale bust of another "Apocalypse Now" character, it is going to be Robert Duval's character Lieutenant colonel Kilgore. So if this does work out I will hopefully have 2 characters from the movie "Apocalypse Now" Dennis Hopper's and now Robert Duval's characters!
Its a little scary doing this for the first time but hey,I will be doing my best. I think I will be sculpting my bust using epoxie sculpt since it seems to work great on fine details such as clothing items!
well my friend, wish me luck and I also hope you and Dennis are coming along nicely as well.

A note on the ribbons. The MOH ribbon ( with stars ) would not have anything before it. Note that the top two rows are only of two ribbons each, the rest three except for the bottom 2 rows which have 4 ( 2 unit citations and 2 ribbons on last row)
