Yes Mate I can understand the dilemmas and traumas you face up to. At times I wish I we were in the UK and able to invest some hours in to Paul Blaber Miniatures.
For sure you have all the skills needed in your life but the day job and a happy life must dictate the time for the others. Churning through my hollow retired head I have a few Ideas that may help.
We will be over in late October, draw back Harry will be with us, maybe meet up for a take a way?

Best wishes to you and Nik Mate

Hi All, as promised a SBS on painting this fellow.
Only the basics at present, spray can flat white the under paint the base colours.
After the undercoat I took liberty and painted the eyes in Hunbrols
The yellow is acrylic it took a few coats to be opaque!
    Best regards
    Paul

    Hi Paul
Nice start with the character in the face coming through already.
The base yellow lends its self to all manner of tonal shapes throughout.
One of my favourite colours to play with but to date it's only been collar and cuffs.
Thanks for sharing the SBS Mate.
    Regards
    Keith

Hi all, free time has not been very kind.
But progress nevertheless, work on the face and base colours on the bear skin, the face is painted in humbrols and arist oils the bear skin was based out in humbrols 62 then an oils mix venition red/siepia/light red/ivory black, looks a shambles at present but will come together?
I have added a picture of the palet to give an idea.
Kieth; I hope it’s a worthwhile update but you’ll see it in the flesh Friday when you pick up yours!
    Thanks for looking as always.
    Best regards

    Hi Paul
He is looking very good mate. Back in the day I, like every one, used the trusty Humbrol tins. For the love of the the big guy I do not know why I switched to oil when I look at what you have achieved over the years.
Cannot tell you how much I am exited to see your work and my casting.
    All the very best

Hi All,after another lengthy interlude, one more small update on the Swed,I’ve added some detail to the bear skin and face, I used vellyo acrylic leather/white to lift the fur up,giving a shaggy less flat look, the skull and crossbones was painted in dark star acrylics first time of use and I’m very impressed with them.
The face was low lighted humbrols black/scarlet highlights were added with artists oils Naples yellow and flake white.
For Kevin! The yellow base is Deco art acrylic poster paint.
I think some of the games workshop yellow S would be ideal as they have a strong pigment.
    As always thanks for looking;-)
    Best Regards
    Paul

    Hi Paul

That's looking really good now , like the use of the acrylics on the Headwear ...and the colour choice ..contrasting nicely with the yellow

    Cheers for the colour details

    Carry on painting !

    Hi Paul
Your work on the Bearskin really worked well in pulling the fur forward.
For the skull and cross bones is the Dark Star acrylic metallic or shades of grey? Either way the white to black tones are very convincing.
Work on his face is as reliably well painted as ever.
    Looking good mate

Thanks guys, the Dark Star acrylic is metallic, dark steel base, pewter, then highlights bright steel.
I also like the use of a ball bearing in the bottles, something other well known acrylic bottles could do with.
    Thanks for looking as always!
