    Hi guys,

Made a start on this in the week, thanks to the refs from Roger (thanks!), depicting my uncle as a stoker during the Second World War.

Still some detailing to go, lanyard, tally band on the cap (a plain HMS, at this time) and the stoker's badge on his right arm and loads of tidying!

    Thanks for looking in,

    Steve(y)

    My fingers are fairly crossed.
Grandfather was on the Atlantic Convoys WW1 and have always wanted to display his medals and records with a figure.

Thanks guys, comments much appreciated! Whilst over at my parent's this weekend, I took the roughed out bust to show my mum. She then disappeared upstairs and reappeared with a photo of Uncle Bill - I now have revisited the facial features to try to get it to look like the chap in question! I will try to get some pics soon to show the results.

    Thanks for looking,(y)

Thanks Keith - it's raised another question though - in the photo, Bill is not wearing a lanyard and it would appear he was a Leading Stoker!! (y)

Lanyards were not worn with all rigs Steve and his rate would depend on when the photo was taken. He might have been a Stoker, Leading Stoker and then back to Stoker again. ;)

Inside knowledge Keith and speaking as someone who was an Able Seaman, Leading Seaman, back to Able Seaman, then Leading Seaman again, then Petty Officer and back to Leading Seaman again...... It's a long story.

Cheers Roger - the arm badge is definitely Leading Stoker, prop with a star above it! How long he kept this is open to debate! Thanks for the info on the lanyard, too - looks like I wont have to make one after all;)

    Pics to follow......(y)
