Now working with 2 of the para busts side by side now, done most of the dennison work on the 2nd bust,i'm still not quite happy with the webbing,im working on that.
with the 2nd bust I have added the rank insignia to both arms and the parachute brevet also to both upper arms, the rank insignia and brevets were handpainted on,they are not sculpted on the busts, its just something I added to give the bust more interest.
Having watched them develop through the painting I'm getting the feel for the final outcome I had planned,i will start on the 3rd para bust shortly.
Ive added a little dirt here and there to the sleeves, the dennison would be dirtied up after landing and throughout the battle.
all the dennison smock painting was done with oils over acrylics.

The painting is coming along beautifully Brian, nice addition adding the rank insignia and wings, for accuracy the wings on the left arm will need to be removed though as they were only worn on the right arm.

    All the best

Hi Steve,I was originally going to use this para as a medic, the brevet on the left sleeve I copied from this photo,it seems now that this picture was inaccurate so I will have to sort something out to remove or cover it (y)

Looking at that photo Brian I can see that it is actually a negative in reverse, that is actually his right arm, you can tell because the beret is always shaped to the right and this image shows it going left and wings on left. Not the first time photographers have developed the negative the wrong way around and gave a false impression :)

    All the best
    Steve

    Brian,
fantastic ! I'm a bit late joining in, so catching up with all the work so far, but great vision for the individual pieces, and really like the way you have managed to show that these troopers have really been through it !
looking forward to the end result !
    cheers,
    Craig.
