I just painted this bust that will be entered into a competition in October.
Looking for some feedback and posible help if improvement is needed.

    Templar Sergeant 13th Century.
    "After the Battle"
    1:10 scale Andrea Miniatures.
Painted in Andrea and Vallejo acrylics.

The base is just temporally, I will put him on a wooden plinth that I ordered...

    Thank you in advance,
    Frans

    Thank you :)
It is a well know bust, and I see him a lot with a white or black vest.
That's why I painted this version in a leather vest for they did had those as well .
I had a bit of a worry that all that leather might be a bit to much.

Love the overall 'tone' of this piece - soft and muted. I'd lose the red sword binding though
and soften the cross a bit.... a more brownish tone to blend in with the overall look. Just an
opinion of course about an excellent piece of work

    Thank you..
I was doubting about the colour of that sword binding thing. To me it is the weakest spot of this bust. I thought to paint it canvas or red leather, maybe that would be better then red.

Fine work on this lovely bust. Enjoiable leathers and metals. Agreed with fogie about the cross, it looks a bit too "new" with respect of the surcoat.
    Congrats !

Very well painted leathers and I like your flesh tones. Agree with others about the cross though but a fine looking bust that I wish was mine.

    Thank you gentleman :)
Good point about the red cross, I will work on that.
Funny thing, I did made it more brown, but I took it off again for I thought it was too much weathered... lol
That's why I asked opinions, so It's very much appreciated!

If you work on it and I must suggest one thing more please don't feel upset. The cross was fixed to the surcoat by sewing it so a little paintjob simulating sewing can give it more realism. Hope this can help. :)

For my taste, I think this piece looks excellent.. Flesh not overdone...The only thing I would do if this were mine would be more contrast between the leather vest and belt. I might use some thin black washes across the whole length of the belt to bring out the contrast between the belt and vest. But that's just me....You can tell me I'm full of dog do do and you would probably be right. Still..an excellent job on this piece that is not overdone....keep up the good work...
