Many moons ago I had a D F Grieve original cast of his 93rd Highlander at the Crimea. Looking at the figure now I painted his turnout as though he was on a royal review.
This example is from Bonapart’s where the moulds now reside.
This time I have tried to make him a tad more grubby. There is still a long way to go, not least the hose tops which I am really struggling with.

If you look at these hose they were particular to the 93rd, you can see the red band that runs around the top meaning fewer diamonds to paint. I posted a pic of the back of my hose on a black watch sbs a while back which shows the seam running down the back so it's not a continuous pattern and the diamonds are quite large, again meaning fewer to paint.

He would make fantastic 200mm figure wouldn't he? I'll do it once I've finished mine, so about ten years! Lol. I hope this helps Keith all the best.
Ps you know that's an other ranks jacket he's wearing? In the Gibb painting the CSgt is shown wearing one so maybe a field replacement with his rank sewn on.

I still have a picture of your hose tops that you posted for me some time ago.
I had seen the red tops on figures but thought it was a painters short cut. So it is good to see one for real.

Well painting work, good job

I thought I would use the Gibb painting to make a simple conversion to the CSgt. I must come clean and say that I blindly followed the painting not checking the other ranks jackets.
