I was a member of a Plymouth Model soldier society in my teens back in the 1980's. Studied fine art sculpture here then went to St Petersburg for more academic training . Ive been sculpting and bronze casting for quite a while but this year ive returned to my old hobby as the quality of products is exciting to see. I still love Historex conversions though im tempted by most things and like Flats too.
My website for sculpting is www.robtruscott.co.uk
Hope i can contribute here , im sort of picking up my skills but after the lapse its quite an adjustment back to miniatures.
The Tommys War Lancer re fired my enthusiasm . i tried acrylics for first time here....

Wonderful to 'have you back' Rob.
to be fair you were never far away when you were producing the work you have.

I hope you don't mind me posting these three pics for you, they are very monumental and emotive.

    Wonderful stuff.

    Thanks very much guys .
Its very nice to be on here.
Ive been honing the same skills i guess. Art market is a fickle place and modernism has taken root ! I feel nostalgia for great military art which mainly came from France. There is no one drawing as well as Detaille , Rousselot or Leliepvre as far as i see...but military modelling is in a good hands though i was taken aback by how the BMSS annuals had shrunk from the days of Wandsworth town hall and Roy Dilleys time .
Thats why its great to see fine work here from all over

    Hi Robert,

    Welcome to PF.
    Long time, no see.
PMSS is still going strong, and a few old faces remain.
I visited your site and was very impressed by your work.
Your unique, evocative sculpting style has developed most significantly from the sculpts I remember seeing a good few years back.
I see you haven't lost your touch with the brushes, and I look forward to seeing more.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Most impressed by your work Rob! I've done some bronze work in the past and your style is the one I was aiming for. Couldn't keep it up though, and surely did not reach your level! Still a lot of ideas though....maybe some day.

Welcome to PlanetFigure. Hope to see more of your work here.

    Hi Rob,
Welcome aboard, some very emotive pieces capturing the enduring spirit of man's resolve in the face of extreme hardship.

You'll fit right in here with a workbench like that.;)
    cheers

Cheers guys . Thats really encouraging . Here are true military historians with love for military history in general as well as the details of uniform and kit. The Stauffenberg Bust thread for example shows great sensitivity as well as enthusiasm to its subject which is what we all aim for whether plastic , white metal or bronze it doesnt matter. I tried to combine some of my militaria collecting with sculpture on a facebook page called ' Voie Sacree 1914-1918' ) Stalled a bit as the energy for commemorating in this recession may have too !!

Great work on the Lancer Rob, I have been trying to get to grips with acrylics for the last year and haven't got close to your first time results!
