    Hi Chaps
A quick piece from Verlinden of 17th Lancers Hero at the Crimea George Wombwell.
Sir George Orby Wombwell was 22 at the time of the Charge. He had joined the 17th in 1852 and was appointed ADC to Lord Cardigan for the campaign.
The replaced head is from Dog Tag with the hair and chapka scratch built from Milliput. The paint is Windsor and Newton oils throughout.
    Regards to all

I like the "worn" look you have given to the uniform, really nice, muted colours.

    Very nice keith.
My only criticism would be the blood stains on the trousers don't look very natural. I think they are too bright and they wouldn't have run down like that but would have soaked into the fabric and formed an irregular shaped "splodge". Feel free to ignore that though, your version looks a bit more dramatic. :D

Nice work, Keith... The blood on knee gives dramatic potential of this figure ...

Excellent work, very atmospheric. Captures the wear and tear of campaign very well.

Many thanks for your more than generous comments and advice Gentlemen.
Wombwell reportedly got through a good number of horses at The Charge and I likened it to my frequent falling off my bike. Hence a little graze on the knees needing little smear of Germalean. But seriously I would not usually add blood to my figures so I take on board your guidance should the need arise.
Thanks for looking in and taking time to reply I do value your input.
    Kind regards
    Keith

    Hi Keith,

I have this kit in my GA and seriously wondered how it would look when made up. Now I know. Great work mate. I particularly like the details on the waist band. The scratch built shako also looks great.

    Hi Tony
I am pleased that you like it.
He has been in my GM for years too. I was never quite happy with him from the neck up, but a a length of fine copper wire, a blob of putty and a different head did the job.
With the cross belt and waist band I try not to make big tone differences in the gold effects so I am over the moon that you picked up on it.
Overall it's a nice kit and I am sure that you will enjoy and make a great job on your's
    All the very best
