    Hello Everyone
    Sculpted by my good mate Palo (Pavol Offo Ovečka) and issued by Ian Burton of Ellie's Mjniatures, here is my current effort. Officer 17th Light Dragoons 1777 American War of Independence. This was a real pleasure to paint. thanks guys
    Primed with Halfords grey, Top coat various oils. Kindest regards Keith

    Great version mate like those whites , they look really good , even though it's oils ( I forgive you ..lol ) lovely work on the fleshwork .

    Thanks Bob very pleased you like the reds. I picked up a book and copious tutorials on portrait painting like the old masters. In the shell of a nut:
    I laid down a crimson layer. Although the jacket is scarlet this base will avoid the glowing red I have seen on some figures.
    Then I added the shadows using a raw umber. This looks a little heavy at this stage but will be more subtle as the process goes on.
    Now I started to paint thin scarlet coats until the colour had good depth but the crimson and raw umber were still evident.
    To finish the highlights were picked out with a scarlet and cadmium yellow.
    I know that Colin Fraser used this method with great success and I am happy with my first go at it.
