Can you confirm how the wee feathery thing or hackle is held in place above the badge

    Currently it looks like this

I have those plates somewhere !

    BONNET

    Paint band white.

    Paint vertical red stripes.

Paint a horizontal red band 1/3 height.

Fill where the red overlaps with green / blue.

    * For The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, paint White instead of Green,
for The Black Watch, paint Blue instead of Green

    Hi Kev

I did the 93rd Bonnet (Stormtroopers) This may or may not help as I cant get to my notes and I did it both ways and cant remember which way came out best.

    1. Paint bonnet black along with dark shadows ete and dry brush prussian Blue's
    or the other way round
2 Paint prussian blue and dry brush blacks
but im sure it was No1.

    Hi Mick

Cheers for reply ..I was thinking of Prussian blue in there somewhere and perhaps Burnt Umber as well as a Paynes Gray for highs , the actual sculpting is nice but quite heavy so drybrushing will be happening

Working on the tunic now though the bonnet is last!

    Hi Guys

Forgot to mention when I do the Rank badge on the right arm it will be on a slightly different backing colour cut round with stitching as though all badges have been sewn onto the backing and then onto the tunic .

Yes its trying to get the blues / Greens you get when you look at birds feathers,
But you being a keen ornithologist would know all about this.;)

Sorry for being picky with your 'piccie' Kevin.
It's probably my eyesight, but, have you painted the blue squares 'out of step'?
The reason for my asking is that your diagram shows the blue (green in the diagram) with red above and below.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

P.S. Just looked again at the diagram, and it shows no white in the central section.

    ARGHhhhhhhhhhhhhh and double ARGHhhhhhhhh

I'll fish my bonnet out of the loft and get some pictures for you tomorrow hopefully. Not sure how much use they'll be but maybe handy for future use mate.
