Managed to get back to the bench after an absence of 4 weeks,i've used this stock horses head and started to resculpt the new bridle and mane along with the open mouth/teeth/tounge,this will only be part of the project i'm doing and will take a few months to complete between shift work and family commitments,i will update as much as I can.

Hi Brian...I think we may be working along the same lines here mate?...I'm in the middle of putting a horses head together with the CGS's Scots Grey Bugler, I'll get around to posting some pics on here later this week, be interested to see what you think as I think it might be a similar idea (y)

    Hi Brian
I'm going to have a guess at what you are doing just for fun.
The rider will be leading the horse out of a stable, part of the scenery will be the open door of the stable.

I would make that throat lash a bit looser. It should hang under the throat.

Looking forward to seeing how this one develops. Working out something along similar lines with the MMM cuirassier trumpeter, but still trying to visualize how to present it on a proper base. I have the trumpeter and the horse, but lack a good idea.

Yes kev,it will have a battlefield feel to it so it won't be pristine, you know how I hate that look on a soldier in the field.

    >>The pose of the horse makes the throat lash taught not loose<<

When the throat lash is fitted, you should be able to get the width of a hand between the cheekbones and the throat lash. If it's taught it's too tight even in that pose. It 's only purpose is to stop the bridle coming off the horses head on a fall. I ride a lot by the way

Ok,I don't ride but what i've done here is look at photographs of horses and bridles, this is a model in 1/9th scale not a full grown horse, now here in this picture the throat lash looks quite snug against the horses head / neck,if someone like me who is a modeller and not a rider looks at this I model it the best I can to look like it,because I don't ride I would not have known about the hand spacing between the cheekbones, this is an open forum for discussion and I appriciate what your saying, but if your a modeller as well your going to find hundreds of kits with the throat lash that looks like mine.

I thought you gonna make a full horse of it with a jockey on it, jumping over a tree in the woods.
The military is around 5000 years old.
So you can find a cavalier in the Napoleontic periode who has done the military.

Tell you what. Give me a few weeks and I'll start a mounted figure with lots of mistakes and correct them all.

So as not to upset a manufacturer I will try and pick one that is out of production. I'll see what I have in the loft.

    Should be fun!
