    Hi Guys

An interesting question posed by Mick ......

Whoever these new guys are they don't seem to be asking for any feedback or ideas and Heavan knows there is a lot here on PF and on FB

A show for modellers or for profit ......which will be put back into the event ......hopefully both

Hi Mick I will try and answer from my point of view. i for one know the limited funds people have and that people take their time sometimes in wanting to buy a new release i.e. when we but stuff up for pre order we may get 10 if your lucky. then you may get a rush the week it's released then it's just down to steady sales over the months. so it's not a quick return on your investment.

But when you do a show like Euro you do expect to cover your costs at least or it becomes a very expensive ad. we need to have good sales at the show or it's not worth going then the show dies. and we become totally internet based. and the only way you get to see them in the flesh is when you buy the product.

the show can help your company over the weeks when business is slow.everything ellie's makes goes back into new product the same will go for most of the companies. shows like Euro should help the company re invest in new masters for the next few releases. so yes it is important that we have good sales at shows so we can carry on bringing out a great future product. in an ideal world we would like people buying both at the shows and on line through the year but that will not happen. so at the end of the day even if we kept new releases for the show people still wait a few weeks to buy them. I have seen it first had we release for Euro and it's lots of looking and saying a must have but it's weeks before the person may order it. we can't win.

At the end of the day we hope that when you guys/ girls come to a show that you buy which helps us but we can't force you to it's down to you. but shows that charge top money for tables make it very hard for us to make it worth the effort to come and trade. it's an over head we can do with out. the money we spend on the trip Hotels tables, food & Drink could all go towards a new master which we can sell just as well on line.

it's getting the balance right the trade need you to spend and the show needs the trade to help pay for the venue one will not survive without the other so a good medium has to be found.

So in an ideal world, If the punter is going to a show/s buy at show/s.
If not attending show/s buy on the net.

I personally like to purchase at show/s as you can have a good look at it. I will also contact the trader asking that they put one aside for me prior
to purchasing so I can have a look.

Hi Mick yes in an ideal world that would be great, going to the show does help you see the product first hand ( nothing like seeing it in the flesh). but it's not an ideal world and things have change with the net and it has made things easy to buy and look at first hand.

I still think their is nothing like the buzz of a show and the thrill of selling a good product and showing it off and seeing the pleasure on the faces of the customer you don't get that buzz on the net. it's just getting a happy medium which I hope the new show delivers for everyone.

Well, I usually come home from every show with products I never had the intention to buy or even know existed before the show.
Sometimes I get impressed or inspired by the product on display and sometimes I might even be put off.

But the more I go to shows, the less I buy online.

Hi Janne it's finding that happy medium I think but nothing better than seeing the product in the flesh.

Its people like you that keep us going ...the problem being the internet has made it easy for you not to come.

Euro was all about new releases it was the start of yhe season. As trade we must learn to draw people back and become part of the attraction to go. This isnt just by selling cheaper...christ there are that many sales these days why would you buy at any other time.

Euro has to evolve ...keeping quiet isnt exactly setting a great starting point is it.

I Totally Agree with you Stu but the new group are still quiet and I think this will be the case for some time to come by the looks of things. they obviously have every aspect covered and do not need the input from any other quarter.

My Question to them is this what would have happend if we had gone ahead booked a venue and dates classed with something they had planned? this could have happend we had the info we needed we were just waiting to see the response to what we had planned.

What do they think it will achieve by keeping it quite? I believe that any new show will need all the help it can get. sift through the ideas put forward form a basic plan then roll with it. it can be tweaked along the way if needed. but who an I to say. they know what thier doing and the best of luck to them I will await info and make my decision when and if they contact me with regards to my support.

I think you will always attract people to shows IF they believe that it will be exciting and innovative. But if they think all you do is press the replay button every year, churn out and dust down the same old attractions Then you wont see them. The art is making people WANT to come because they will feel that they have missed out if they dont. As apposed to they wished they hadnt.

That show was I think called something like Trucks and Tracks or maybe us the successor ...think it's tanks orientated although I see figures in the link to 2016 show

Perhaps this new group are planning on joining forces with this show ...

Who knows ..no one as no one is saying a thing !!!

We've done on On Track for the last 4 years, it is a replacement for the now defunct Trucks and Tracks 2 day show which used to cater for the armour side of the hobby whilst Euro concentrated on the figure side. On Track is organised and run by Harold Hanna from Matador Models. It's not a bad show if you're into AFVs, we normally do quite well there but it isn't anywhere near as big as Euro.

Hi All just wanted to let you know that over the weekend one of the people involved in the rescue plan has been in touch with me, which is good all I can say at this point is that they are in negotiations with powers that be. so it's now a waiting game to see if they can work something out. I wished them all the very best and have offerd help if they need it. so At this point I will be stepping back and let them take the lead on the plans they have.

A big thank you to the people that supported what me and Stu when we were trying to put together a plan of action. I do hope you get behind the team when they make themselves known to everyone in the future.

    Cheers

Guys there needs to be some calming down here.
Some of you are accusing unknown people of not looking listening or consulting you, why?.
If they are of us they will be reading all these pages...and others too.
I would not be telling you how I was negotiating if I was, until in place I had solid comnittments for.
1 the fully costed payments available and secured.
2 the display stands for the competition room which belong to someone else.
3 full Insurance and other cover agreed.
So......why should anyone declare their hand.
If you were doing the bargaining you would be no different.
I also, like Ian know who, but it's a sensitive area, maybe not Brexit level, but please respect their right to privacy, they will go public if it's worthwile doing so.
