My very first post, and one of my first bust.
I am in scale moddeling since I was 10, but recently (3 years ago) started to like figure painting.
    And especially busts.

This is my third bust, but still have a lot to learn.
I have seen multiple renditions by other painters, and will not achieve that level of detail yet. But with practice I will learn more. Please feel free to add comments or other questions.

The face is finished, and only the eyes must get some gloss finish, the hairs are only in a rough state.
At this moment I am trying to finish the breast harnass, and after that I will continu with the green cape.

    Lovely work on the harness.
Check out Mark Bennettes eye tutorial featured in the articles tab above if you fancy trying a different method of doing them.
    Thanks for showing,

You´ve chosen a difficult bust in my eyes. Nice work on the harness so far. The skin could use some more shadows and highlights.

Good work, what I am noticing is that the face is very rough compared to the bust i purchased recently. Are you sure you bought the original?

I have finished the work. And these are the final photos.

After the comments of Giorgimalteser I have done some research, and I think I have bought an illegal copy of the bust in China. The price is just to low, and it did not ship in the original box (there was no box-art on the package)
I didn't know about different brands and bust manufactures, and when I bought this, I just bought it to improve my technics. The next time I have to research the supplier better.

I had planned to participate in a contest next month, but since I know this is not the original product I won't participate, also to prevent confusion of bad castings marks etc. It is also the reason I will not finish it any further (I won't include the sword) and just leaf it as is.

It was a nice figure to paint, and I have learned a lot. I hope to buy some day a genuine figure of Planetfigure.
Now I have started on Verlinden bust, 1:4 churchill.

Feel free to comments on the painting work.

    Gerard Jan,

It's hard to tell something about your painting. The bust is not original and you can see that into the very bad casting.
it is better to invest in a good quality bust and the original manufacturer.
Beware that a cheap one from China is always a recasting.
So, buy a good bust and start painting again. Share it with the Planet and we can give you great tips.

If you compare your bust with this one (painted by Juan Pablo) you can clearly see the huge difference in the casting and details, I once unknowingly bought a copy and although it was a good copy one could still see the difference, besides that you can tell straight away it's a copy from the packing (very basic packing) and no box-art to go on or lack of crispness in the fine details. However, if it were me I would finish it off because you did a great job at painting it. Good luck on your next bust.
