    Hello folks,
Here is another conversion on my bench.
Originally an officer of militia from Front Rank Figurines.
I clipped off his head and replaced by one i had from Trident.
This figure will represent the Marquis de Chastellux, who was part of the general staff to Rochambeau at Yorktown and acted as a Liaison between the French commander and George Washington.
I have got rid of the turn down collar, added a stand up one according to the French regulations , added the ruffle cravat and fixed the lower part of the vest.
I added the lace on the coat which i gave texture using the end of a metal filing tool.
I hope to start painting it soon.
    Cheers François_Jean_de_Chastellux.jpg 20160926_202823.jpg 20160926_223932.jpg 20160926_223946.jpg rasp-001.jpg Screenshot_20160926-202346.png

Cracking figure and a good start with your conversion Daniel.
May I ask what putty you are using and how does it cure/harden.
    Cheers,

    Hey mate,
i use brownstuff for most of the edges and big areas, it cures in about 12 hours to a complete solid surface, you will be able to sand it with no problem, working time is about 30/40 minutes before start to harden.
the greenstuff i use mostly for little details, great for hair , lace, and other small details.
the problem with greenstuff is that is kinda difficult to sand, and it take a day to completely cure .
i also use Aves putty or magic sculp, sometimes i would mix that with green stuff or brownstuff.
I would experiment and see what's work for you , but brownstuff works miracles .
I hope i was of help and did not confuse you with all of these choices.
    best regards

    Thanks for the info Daniel.
I tried Greenstuff years ago years ago and did not get on with it, a bit flaky. It may have changed somewhat but you look to really do well with it.
I will try Brown stuff just out of interest.
    Cheers Mate

Try brownstuff keith, it keeps its shape very well and you can sand it when hard, you will not regret using it.
    Army painter sells it.

I got rid of the fringed epaulette since further research found they did not wear epaulettes on their coats, at least the high command.
I painted the base color with scale 75 dark blue and andrea navy blue ... 20160926_223946.jpg 20160927_232428.jpg
