Hi Brian, cuirass looking good, your project has come at a good time for me as I am just about to start painting the Norman Knight bust and the lance with a pennant that I have added, so being a fan of your work I hope that I can follow your stages and grab some tips along the way.
My first question is how many coats do you use when base coating with acrylics and how much water do you use in the mix, what brand of paint do you use, I tend to use Vallejo and what way do you do your metals.

    Hi Terry
The acrylic paints I use are from games workshop, for black and white I use the humbrol acrylics, for base coating I usually apply 2 thin coats with just tiny amounts of water added, but it depends on the primer colour,if you use a black primer then you may need 2 or 3 coats especially if using a lighter colour,I use a grey auto primer so 2 coats is normally good for me,I leave each coat about 15 mins and dry with a hair dryer.
For metals I have started to use the Dark Star metallic range,I love these and there s a wide choice of colours available, they also do inks for washes as well which are very good,I would recommend you try Dark Star, they are great paints and can be mixed together as well if you like.
Are you attending Euro militaire ?
