Started to paint the face last weekend, all painted in oils over acrylic flesh basecoat,i have added powdwe marks to his face and a tiny bit of blood,i also wanted him to have a 5 o'clock shadow area, the same techniques were used on the exposed chest area, the neckerchief was completed just in acrylics.
the hair was first painted in acrylics and finished with oils, dark shadows on the hair were done with acrylic black/brown mix.

As some of you will know, the uniform tunic was incorrect in the film, the collar is not completely green, only the patch where the sphinx is green and the lapels in the film were also green with white borders, again this in incorrect as it should be red and bear the 24th in white.

I plan to finish the tunic in its correct historical context, not the one portrayed in the movie.

    Cheers on this one Brian!
How are you doing your photography?
I've been having trouble getting the close focus that you seem to have mastered.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Some mighty fine work there Brian!

The smoke/powder smudges along with the cuts, scrapes and sweat are all superbly executed (y)!

Will be hard to top this one.

    Hi Brian,
He's really coming to life mate, loving the look of blood sweat and tears. I just have one other thing I want mention as a constructive criticism and it's purely my own observation. The photo that you posted earlier of Hooky shows his eyes are looking up in a very cheaky way, almost out of the corner if you know what I mean. This compliments the mouth pouting to me, where as his eyes at the moment seem to be looking down almost in a day dreaming state. I'm sorry to be annoying and I know you always put alot of time and effort into your work, like I said Brian only my opinion, you are the artist and you have the artistic licence and please don't any offence to my critiques.
    Kind Regards
    Chris.

"The Thin Red Line" by the Fosten brothers shows the '24' on the lapels as brass. I'm currently painting the Thunderbirds bust of the 24th, and this shows the numbers as white. Can someone give me a definitive answer? I'm sorry to have hijacked Smudgers thread, but it might allay any doubt [in my mind, at least!]?
Love the bust by the way, its rather impressive!
