unwise decision ,apple upgrade

    If it ain't broken, no need to fix it.

    So many times I've found that the "new improved" version of something is actually a crock of shite - far less user-friendly than the older version, and full of pointless "features" that are the software equivalent of those rubbish gadgets that you find in the Sunday supplements.

    But of course the tech companies have to make money somehow, which is why every few years they try to force us to upgrade to something that we don't actually need.

    I'm still using Windows 7 on a Desktop. I'm perfectly happy with it, it does everything I want and need it to do and I see no reason to change it until and unless I absolutely have to. Why bother?

    The only "i" gadget I have is an iPod. And I understand that they're old hat now as well. But nevertheless, it works absolutely fine for me.

    Oh and as for Google translate, I recently posted on FB two reasons why it will never put me out of a job:

    1) Хорошо ему в пару твой новый от Олега пойдет. И супротив можно поставить и вместе.

    The reason I upgrade Steve was my IPad no longer spoke to my Imac , they must have had words with one another while I was sleeping.
    Never been that fussed about the Ipad as it can only load pics via the mac , one of its great failings : no usb or card reader ; mine is an ipad 2 and i will never buy another one thats for sure.

    I am equally reluctant to 'upgrade' things that are working fine.
    Problem is that this is almost impossible these days..... the rest of the world keeps moving and I'm sure it is impossible to browse PF from Windows 3.1. So occasionally one has to jump (if windows doesn't do it automatically for you already!! :-(

    As annoying as it can be it is the price of progress. Now anyone jumping at this statement should consider what is worse: some gripes about the latest windows or IOS, or still having to fiddle with bios settings and loading crappy programmes with cassette tapes.... From one release to the next progress can be very minor, or actually be a downgrade, but after several of such steps things become very different.

    Just want to say you guys sound like a bunch of complaining old men that have trouble with change...! :-D
    Well that's what my wife usually says when I am done ranting.

    Having said that, Ron, losing your sorting over 1000s of pictures really sucks.
    Have you posted on IT forums, or googled this issue?
    Sometimes such things are the result of some silly setting that one unknowlingly sets incorrectoy, and sometimes it can even be restored.
