Hi Mike, many congratulations for your figures they are fine and you paint them in areally warm way......the face and the uniform too......really a show for my eyes....indeed!!!Then i undertood throw you that 1.32 Hornet head are perfect for TOMMY WAR figures.....and this is a fine news becouse i love Hornet heads (1.35) and i have many in 1.32 too that same times i use with figures bigger from 1.35 (usually acw..) i love so much anzac figures but market hasnt too much to offer in 54 mm, a part Fusilier and AC MODELand you suggest me to use same TOMMY WAR figures to trasform in anzac too!!!
Came back to your diorams: the showel and the 303 ammo case are Scale link? The maori figure walking is of TOMMY WAR CODE 5401?? In which way you realize his hat ? Is an original tommywar cut from another head? I love so much the hatyou realize for veteran......it remember so much the hat on a bust of FUSILIER line 12/03 of a nz mounted rifles...congratulations for your work...i so that Tommy war has other two static figures to trasform in anzac:54027 and 28...what do you think???
I read that in your future project you, probably, has same anzac hitting the beach under fire.......do you think to A C MODEL GALLIPOLI 10 FIGURES DIORAMA IN 54 MM '? Have you never see them? Which is their quality and their dimension? They could stay in a diorama with the FUSILIER chunk bair 1915 gallipoli ??

A part this your three figures diorama i remained astonished for your incredible work you did on THE FUSILIER chunk bair dioramas...figures......they came back to life with your fantastic paint over them...really fine..in fact in that moment i decide to buy this Group of figures from Fusilier and add them the code 54/07 running agaist the enemy...now my question is: are they fantastic figure unpainted too or is your skill to trasform them in superb 54mm miniatures?

I wish add to FUSILIER Group two of TOMMY WAR figures 54.20 and 21, giving them hats and rifles......are they in scale to Fusilier too???? In your poject of three figures thereis a FUSILIER ones thatis perfect as veteran: 54.09 what do you think about it???

Have you news if the figures in 54mm that Perry twins sculpted for Peter Jackson are or will be commercial ones???
    Where we can see them??

Thanks in advance for share with us your project and scuse me if i bored you with all these questions!!!

    Cheers

Thank you for your passionate interest & support of ANZACs Mario :)
You are correct there are not many around but Tommys is helping change this ;)
Their figures & busts can be converted into ANZACS & I have many projects doing this at present.
I'm always happy to answer questions so will do my best to help you.

Shovel for old company H&R who did brass tools, I think no longer in production sorry.
Ammo boxes are Scale Link as is slouch hat on the veteran, hollowed out & shaped like the Fusilier's bust which I also painted earlier.
Marching 5401 & 5406 donated parts to our little Maori.
5401's hat was cut off & hollowed out to take the Hornet head

Yes you could convert 54027 & 54028 into ANZACs as they had this type of dress at Gallipoli, without steel helmets - sun helmets could be a good option like on 54024.
I might also remove the officer's tie & open up his shirt, but you could leave it as there are photos of ties being worn.

Yes I have seen Andy's AC Models diorama, it is in his usual style & sculpted differently to Chunuk Bair vignette.
I have not sat the figures next to each other so cannot say whether their scales would fit together.

I've included a photo to show relative size of figures - Nino's Tommys War are larger figures more close to 60mm.
Steve Warrillow's The Fusilier are true 54mm so are quite a bit smaller.
You could match them in a scene perhaps but would have to position them carefully to help give the right perspective.
Also in the photo are a couple of the ICM 1/35 Gallipoli ANZACs, you can see they are a lot smaller, but do have good detail.
I've put a 1/35 Hornet head on for comparison to.
Ruler shows scale 1/32 imperial measurements.

Yes I did do some cleaning up & minor modification on The Fusilier figures to sharpen details.
This was challenging but worth the effort.
I still have to mount these figures on their base & will be interested to see what you think when they are finally finished.

As mentioned above see photo, scales are quite different between brands unfortunately

Not sure if these will ever be available commercially, maybe as toy soldiers.
I have a friend I will discuss with this ANZAC weekend, he maybe able to give me some clues.
Note they are not sculpted as well as Tommys figures but look incredible in the big scene.

Hi Mike, thanks a lot for your quick answer and for the images...these help me so much to understand the figures dimension indeed!!
I like so much the Fusilier figures for their dynamic poses and the Tommy war ones for their fine sculpting....and i read on Tommy wat site, that in summer he ll realize same Anzac and Ghurka figures for Gallipoli period....and this is an interesting news for me and for you too!!!

As soon as i ll c0mpleate my figures i ll send you same pictures for sure!!!

    Bye bye and thanks again.

Finally finished this little Maori lad.
While I sort out final shots of him, some maybe interested in these last WIP photos taken a couple of weeks back.

It seems longer SBS articles have waned here, so is this sort of thing still of interest?

    Stay safe,

Incredible work,...................but hey, these are a bit smaller than I'm use to seeing you work on. Superb work non-the-less, as expected. I like the progression pics and I still can't get over how you get that texture to looks so real, especially in this scale. Ruck On Mike!

This has been an absolute joy to follow and an inspiration
for me Mike, and I have little interest in WW1.

I have to assume that others will have found it so too.

Each figure is so full of character and other planeteers have abky remarked on your terrific painting style.

Please do not stop your SBS format, we have a whole crop of new members who will learn so much from you.

    Cheers Paul.

Thanks as always Steve, value & appreciate the supportive comments you offer.
Texturing is something quite a few modellers are trying nowadays, so good to hear how people perceive it to look.
