I have finally got to a stage where I'm willing to post some pics of my first real attempt at sculpting something. I've been waiting for a manufacturer to produce this but none of the lazy dogs have done it so I thought I'd give it a go. It's going to be this sort of pose (but taller and better looking) with more medals putting him around 2006 just before the Scottish Battalions were merged to form one big "super Regiment", the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
There are a few guys on here that I will be looking to for help and I am using a superb head from Reedees for scale but I will be doing a head of my own. My plan is to cast limbs etc separately to give myself a collection of multi-pose bits to do other figures, if this works out. Any help, criticism is appreciated. Thanks,
    Scotty.

I'll try that again, I'm going between my tablet and my laptop which is as slow as a week in jail! Thanks though, it is something I've been working on for a while more off than on but it's a labor of love like your own project.

Slower than a week in jail! Haha! I like that, I'm going to steal it! You've got the makings of a cracking sculpt there. Is that you in the pic?

It is, but the sculpt will be scaled to about 5' 10" ish. It seemed easier. I've other pics to put up at some point tomorrow, I'm having computer difficulties. That will be the point I start asking for help.
    Cheers,
    Scotty.

I am very impressed with the idea of multi pose limbs.

Thanks Oda, I've got high hopes for this so if I can get near where I want I'll be happy. Keith you were one of the guys I intended to call on due to your excellent work adding to busts.
Thanks for the encouragement, I'll need all the help I can get!

I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on with this one Scotty, and picking up some tips along the way too :)

    Good luck buddy (y)

Cheers Eludia, it's me that's looking for tips, remember it's all about me, me, me!
Re the sporran, it's a common way to stand at rest, there are no pockets to put my hands in. I am in no way "touching" myself, the smile is coincidental

Here are another couple of in process shots, i'm thinking i can sand bits smooth once baked, particularly the top (cantle) of the sporran. Trying to work out the best way to do the belt.
