Thanks for all the comments guys.

    Hi Merlino,
Just followed the shield maiden painting on you tube and added some other colours such as blue around the eyes, some sepia ink mixed with base colour, red over the cheeks.

    Some uniform Wip pics:

I sprayed primer black which was stove paint I had left over from putting in my wood burner. Super Matt finish. Then sprayed some halfords white primer on top. This shows through the reds and gives clear guidance where the highlights and shadows are.

Scale 75 antares red was then base coated
Highlights were aldebaran red and then orange.
Shadows were base coat and African shadow then I used citadel carroburg Crimson ink mix with African shadow. The inks are more intense so give more depth. Mixing them with paint means you get more passes without them going shiny.

The sash was red, Indian shadow and white to form a crimsonish colour. Highlights were base with a little light flesh added. Shadows were citadel carroburg Crimson ink, base colour and Indian shadow from scale 75.

I added the Crimson ink again to The shadow colour for the pin washing sequence. This helps add depth to the straps and seam borders plus tidies things up a bit.

Whites are a mix of white + grey, white+German splinter camo, white+thar brown scale 75.

I ran some washes over the whites to tone them down and will highlight edges with a pure white diluted heavily.

I like using the inks and am learning they are more versatile than you think. They really save you time because of their intensity and you don't need as many passes with your brush.
