Not exactly my historical period, but some beautiful painting, Eduardo!

When I hear "Ronin", I think mostly about the Robert De Niro and John Frankenheimer and David Mamet movie. Can't help myself. I'm such a fan of that film!

    All the best,
    Dan

It could be the angle of the picture.
But if that is correct the difference between the right and left leg is to much. The Quadriceps Femoris Vastis Medialis part is to prononced in comparison with his Musculature of left leg.
I'm pretty sure that Raoul can do better then that.

Looking at other recent pieces from Raul Latorre (for example his fantasy-figures for Mproyec) I would have taken a bet that this is NOT one of his sculpts.:(
    Quality control?

Looks like it's been done in haste.Doesn't look very appealing, certainly not one of the best works of an otherwise distinguished creator.

    Where?!!!! Its a human cricket.

Seriously though, I think it works well with a touch a cartoon character, similar to Afro samurai style.

I'd like to see this one from other angles before judging. It's an original pose which is hard to judge from this one angle I think. I actually rather like the slim proportions. Too many super-muscular heroes around.
The leg looks longer in this pic because of the stretched out foot. Would like to see actual proportions on another view.

Yes he is a dream for martial arts - he can deliver a kick to the head of an even taller and more slender opponent with ease...:)

At least he looks like a Ronin. I also noticed the long leg.

Seems like this has been sculpted with a more "comic book" style in mind. Hard to say, would like to see it from some more angles.

He doesn't really have the look of an anime figure, sort of in between them and reality. Raul, like Bill Horan, has been accused over the years of having long, skinny legs in their sculpts. It hasn't affected their popularity though. :notworthy:
If this was a real ronin this destitute, he would have sold his sword already. Not only was it a common practice for beleagured ronin in the Edo period but also low stipend samurai. To maintain their public status, the samurai substituted bamboo blades.

Tis true bob, as beautifully depicted in the film "twighlight samurai"
I'm just wondering what was being aimed at with this sculpt, as you say, it falls between two stools somewhat.

I prefer this photo of the sculpt. The box art puts me off as the colours feel too clean for such a slim built miniature who looks more like he eats his need and no more. Reminds me of those ronin you see in films like 13 Assassins who look like beggars but turn out to be masters in combat.

Yes grey man is better - much better!

    Looking good to me.
Would have been very surprised if a master like Latorre would get basic proportions wrong.
Like the arms and hands particularly. This man can sculpt!

And still the antomy of the right leg is wrong.
The difference between the right and left leg is still there. The Quadriceps Femoris Vastis Medialis part is a way to prononced in comparison with the Musculature of his left leg.
If his right leg is the good one, then the sculpt must have more muscles into his left leg.
