Brushes MK2 from Broken Toad

    Hi to all ,

I have been able to review several products from 0.jpg amongst them the recent Wonderland set and prior to that the brushes they have in the store.
As always with companies they look to improve their products for the customers and this is what we are looking at in this ..the Mk 2 brushes.

    Brushes Broken Toad 003.jpg
I have been using the previous ones since I got them and have been very pleased with the results .

The set I was in a very nice presentation box 0000.jpg and consisted of 4 sizes , 3/0, 0, 1 and a 2, the set of 4 were in a sealed bag Brushes Broken Toad 001.jpg resting on a foam base , also included is a brush care insert.

So whats is different in the MK well for a start the ferrule are very sharply worked together with the handle being wider in the handle making it more comfortable to hold and use , the belly of the brush is wide holding more than enough paint with the point tapering down finely together with a good spring to it and is very responsive to pressure making them more than suitable for the miniature painting we all do .

Each brush is individually made by experts with over 30 years experience in the craft from pure kolinsky Male sable with the birch handles coming from a sustainable forest in Germany.

I have been using all the sizes since getting the set and find them very comfortable to use , the most important thing in my view is not the size ( indeed most of my painting is done with a size 0 and a 1 ) but the fact that the point is tight and retains the shape.

Broken Toad brushes are IMO better than other products such as GW , and certainly of a very much higher quality , like others I still use series 7 as well but in this world of ours where cost is the prime consideration to many in the hobby then you can do no better than purchase the Broken Toad brushes.

As well as the brushes I would also recommend getting the great brush soap that Broken Toad have ...its great and really keeps the brush clean . 000.jpg

There is also the Pigments 00.jpg and the resin releases the details of which are all on the website .

    Final Thoughts

The brushes are very high quality indeed well produced good with lines , dots and placement of paint they do the job with flair , there are no flats at the moment but perhaps soon these will also be available..do hope so!

The set is Highly recommended so get yourself on the website to order for pick up at this years Salute on stand TJ09 where Kris will be trading with Broken Toad , then after it will be at all the stockists of the products including the company website

Thanks to 0.jpg for the review items

For more info go to the website at

www.brokentoad.co.uk and ofcourse there is the FB page

Enjoy the brushes and the painting

Not tried the Mk2 brushes yet Nap, but if they're as good as the old ones they are worth investing in (I got a few 'used' ones of the old style and they are still my favourite brushes) :)

    Hi Paul,

Good to see you and put a face to a name , hope you are okay after seeing mine! ...

Definately get yourself these brushes better than the MK 1 sitting very easily to the fingers

    Happy modelling

Great review Nap. A shame, for us overseas, that you can only collect them from Salute. Given your review and the comments above I would like a set of them.

    Thanks Nap,

I tried that by trying to order on both the Salute boxes on the Broken Toad website but it has the following message: This set is only available to collect from Salute. If you add this item to your cart you will not be able to select a delivery option, please print off your confirmation email as proof of purchase to collect. Do you have a link to a site I can order them from?

    Cheers

I just ordered the brushes and soap from Broken Toad, I didn`t see the pick up only for the brushes until my purchase was complete. I live in the middle of the U.S. so I assumed my order would be shipped since I filled out my shipping info for Broken Toad. I am at a loss. If anyone knows what is going on please let me know. I wrote them hoping they will ship everything even with a shipping fee, I don`t understand why this has to be so complicated. Paul............................

Thanks Nap, I`m not sure if my e-mail went through or not. I`m not very good with computers, just enough to get by. Paul...........
