Old dog & new tricks I suspect, I am looking at a second hand compressor from evil-bay and a new airbrush, just unsure which one at the moment, duel action & top loading gravity fed?

Got an Iwata HP-CH and I love it. but it is 170$
Also, if you can find a used silent compressor (Silentaire, etc.), go for it.
My compressor is under my table and I barely hear it when it is actually working !

IMHO....this is not a good buy at any price.....key being the compressor!....it is a single piston (oilless) with no reserve tank....which is a must for any type of constant pressure/flow.....
It will only run for about half an hour before the thermal overload kicks in....you will then have to wait for it to cool down before you can resume spraying....a real pain...especially in hot weather!....
Worse being....as it heats up...you will experience spitting/stuttering....and you will lose control of the paint flow as the hot air causes the paint to dry on the tip of the needle......
At the end of the day....it is your money....I would hate to see you waste it....and never get to enjoy the airbrushing experience at it's best...

For the compressor you absolutely need a tank as kagemusha said.
Most compressors are oil less these days since they are cheap to manufacture.
There are some compressors which run with oil which are near silent when kicking in during the active phase, will last a lifetime and can be used inside when people are sleeping at night.
But they cost a fortune. Sometimes you can find them at auctions for example for much less.
Often used in dentistry.

The noise isn't too much of an issue, I'll just get the dogs to bark louder if someone comes to the door, plus this is certainly well within my budget so, as they say 'in for a penny, in for a pound' !

I dislike the complete H&S line. Tried all of them except the Colani and Grafo. Hate the triggers of them all.

We all have our own preferences....I personally don't get on with Iwata AB's.....what works for some etc.
H&S 2in1 plus is not a 'trigger' AB!....so I feel it is a valid recommendation

I would say that all airbrushes have triggers of some sort. Most have top mounted triggers, others pistol grip triggers.

And I would say most have a 'plunger'.....although...in the main.....manufacturers list it as the 'lever'.......does it really matter what it's called

Some call it lever (Iwata, H&S), some call it trigger (Badger, Paasche). Doesn't matter that much. But either way, H&S has IMHO a wobbly, imprecise trigger/lever/plunger or whatever anyone would like to call it.

Your entitled to your opinion.....as am I....and I happen to disagree with your statement regards H&S....especially where the CR Plus 2in1 is concerned....

All informative indeed. I intend to use an airdrush for undercoating with acrylics, larger bigures and busts before I do my Oil thing...still musing it all over...

Youtube is full of airbrushing videos, everything from car painters and tank modellers to gamesworkshop.
