Thanks gents. It pays to take one's time and that is SO contrary to my nature. But I have to say I am enjoying this one a lot.

Working on the dolman piping - first two layers on. Probably going to redo the pelisse lace to blend the highlights better.

All that gorgeous detail is starting to pop out now Colin. The end is now in sight isn't it.
I am intrigued to see your treatment of the pouchbelt and it's fittings.
Have you decided what finish you will use for the bright metals?

Repainting the pelisse frogging and lace to match the dolman's. Still in progress. Some more work on the pelisse fur. Also still in progress.

Hoping to bring him to SWOFC meeting this Sunday....if real life doesn't trip me up again.

I would subdue the white reflex on his eyes a little, they make eye quite iridescent. slightly smaller area may be?

Otherwise - loving how it is turning out.

    Gotta see this in person!
Tell the OL you're taking a nap, stuff a couple of pillows under the blankets, put on a tape of you snoring... Ba-Da-Bing! You're at the meeting having more fun than I guy can have outta prison. Like Ferris Beuller's Day Off (y)

This is definitely some of your best work

Mrs F is the one trying to drive me out the door to play with my buds. I am the laggard as the house reno is starting to depress the sh*t out of me and black moods don't incite good modelling. Thanks for the pep talk sir!

Hi Colin sorry the remodelling of your home is frustrating you.

I would imagine the approach to your model making demonstrates that you apply exacting standards for DIY also.

I hope you get through the mental fug P.D.Q. buddy.

    This is looking great again,
I find myself wondering how much softer the
contrast on the pelisse fur will get with your oil technique.

    All the best

    Paul.

    Thanks Colin.

Paul - the fur was undercoated sepia and high highlights added with raw sienna + sepia + white and then almost pure white. Next step once thoroughly dry is to glaze with Payne's grey + raw sienna + white (a warm mid grey) to fill in the dark pockets and darken the highlights. That should take away the high contrast sponge effect you see now. I will then be highlighting with a very light grey using the portrait as a guide.

Dimitry -I am still working on the irises of his eyes. The catchlighting is too large and the wrong shape.
