    Very beautiful work Colin.
The sculpt has so much accurate detail that I cannot begin to list my 'likes'.
I must ask, did the move up to 1/5 scale make things better or worse. For me the larger the figure the greater expectation I have in my own work.
As Carl Reid said, there is no hiding place in the bigger scales.
You are an inspiration to us all Colin and I'm looking forward to the next photographs.
    All the very best,

Thanks for the encouragement to all. And no Colin I am nowhere near finishing.

I like sculpting and painting large scale. I don't see much difference between 1/5, 1/6 or 1/9. But the broad areas of uniform on larger scales are very difficult to paint with acrylics. It's a bitch getting the paint to blend. Oils are much friendlier in larger scales.

On the down side, as I have said before, the larger scales are pushing against the accepted definition of what constitutes a miniature. I have found that many ask me why I work so big? And it's clear that there is more than a hint of non-acceptance. Luckily I like the large scale for me.

    Yes, me too Colin.
The last time I paid a visit to the art supplies store I eyed up a huge great block of clay with a view to do something close to full size.
Surprisingly Geraldine was all in favour of me doing it.

Initial application of oils over flesh acrylics. Glazes to come. Eyes to redo. Acrylic lace on the dolman need repainting in oil to match that on the pelisse.

Thanks Bob. Here are a few pics in better light with additional work on the flesh tones and hair. Also, roughed in the glove embroidery.
