Yes Colin,I know what you where shooting for after looking at it again and again. What I meant was;you can see every piece of putty that was rolled around to form each group of hair without blending.Don't mind me; Overly picky...Lucky I'm still married.......Keep up the great work.............Wayne

Worry about keeping her you're married to happy rather than me. :) The separate pieces were intentional to get body and lift to the hair style. I was trying to avoid blending and instead added bunches of hair, especially at front. Just pressing lines into a putty bath cap doesn't work too well in a larger scale. We will both have to see the final result to see if it worked OK.

    HI Colin
There is not much that I can to the comments above.
I have always admired your ability to create fine detail but this little fellow lifts the bar to a much greater hight.
    I love it,
    Keith

Started the pelisse too. Roughed in the lace and trim. Still working on the dolman lace etc. Pelisse sleeves look short here due to the photo angle.

He may only be partially finished, but he's already looking superb.

Progress on the pelisse. Fur and buttons not started. Gold lace in progress. I have switched to oils. Dolman will be redone to match the pelisse style. Unlike the painting, I have done his collar blue as I am depicting Paulee as a 6th Hussar. The blue appears much lighter than real in the photos.

Also, I removed his hand with the spare glove. It was badly sculpted and too large.

Photos with the new Google photos collage function.

What a spectacular job--from the sculpt to the painting, the end result is one of the finest figures that I've been privileged to view this year.

Wow. Thanks for that Ometz.....and everyone else above. But no end result yet. I have a relatively long way still to go. I am taking my time on this one and trying to get the painting as precise as possible. I have a bad habit of rushing the painting on my sculpts so I can get to the next putty pushing session. That was accurately commented on by veteran modellers and judges whose opinions I respect, both at Chicago and in our inaugural show here in Toronto. But your words are very much appreciated.

Evidence I am still resident of planet earth. Very limited progress on his pelisse. Some work on the lace and fur but not all my any means. This is going to take a long time given virtually no bench time these days. At least I have solved my going too fast issue. Maybe this will be done for WE '17!

Under layer is acrylic but the whole thing will be oil when done. Oil is a far more effective medium for recreating large period oil paintings in bust form IMO.

Also I have included a couple of pics of his resculpted gloved hand holding the glove. Much better this time out.

    Buttons will be NMM oils.

Super lovely marvellous splendid fantastic terrific.

Those the phrases I would have been using if you had been able to post as often as usual Colin.

So you may as well have them now, they are all appropriate anyway. Love the lacework.

Haven’t kept up with progress on this as I normally check in from my iPad, which doesn’t show the “Recent Threads” column. Now I see what I’ve been missing. And how!

This is truly great, Colin. Yet another inspiring piece on pF.
