    Hi guys,

Yesterday I started work on my latest project.

This bust is one of my favourites and is deceptively simple. The leather jacket will require a lot of work.

Tony this looks like a great start mate.....but for heavens sake man have a break.
The fact you've called him Diuglas suggests you're rushing things.....take it easy.

Hi Tony, not sure who he is, but he looks uncannily like an American 5 star general. Looking like another great piece Tony, you're really gettin through your grey army.
    Regards
    Chris.

Lobely stuff Tony, you have him perfectly so far.

Leather jackets are great to paint, I hope you enjoy the process.
Without the peaked cap I see a definate likeness to the older
Dustin Hoffman... or is it just me beong mad.?

    Well done

    I totally agree.
The eyes give him a quite tired look ...... very effective.

    Cheers,

Thank you gents, I always appreciate your comments.

Apart from the face everything else is just base coated.

I think the hat helps make him look more like MacArthur.

It sure does Tony, but it's his trademark along with the pipe. It's like frosty the snowman, he needs the top hat, scarf and pipe as well.

    Thanks guys

I've added the iconic corn cob pipe and now all the pieces are together. Still a huge amount of detail to go into the shirt, cap and leather jacket. Here are the latest WIP pics. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

I'd have to say you are pluckin this one right down the alley Tony. The depth in the facial features, beard shadow, and oh ya, love the eyes, Wow! BTW.

    Cheers, Ski.

Steve, Huw and Paul, thanks fellas. This is a hard bust to paint as MacArthur is such a well-known character and without the corn cob pipe would be easily recognisable to most people.

I didn't use any oil paint on this one for some reason. Just straight acrylics. I really starting to enjoy the stippling technique for painting flesh and I'm finding its useful for painting leather too.

Well you kicked this one out of the ball park Tony.

I think that kind of validates the technique in your hands doesn't it !

I've used it on leather but not flesh yet.

But you've inspired me to try it for sure.

You are really on top of your game at the moment,
    here's to the next one.
    Cheers Paul.

Tony, can you expand on the stippling issue a bit? Or, can you direct us to an SBS that has your explanation of the process. The results are incredible, I just don't remember reading about how to perform the process.

    Thx in advance. Cheers, Ski.
