Well,i eventually managed to complete this one which I started quite a few weeks ago, apologies for the delay in updates, but I never seem to get a lot of time to myself over xmas,so its took longer than I thought.

This is the bust titled U.S.Marshal 1880but is in fact based on the fictional character portrayed in the movie True Grit by John Wayne, its produced by Gordon Mitchell but can be purchased either from Gordon or Ross Mitchell at the addresses below.
The bust is sculpted by Carl Reid.

Assembly and clean up were very straight forward with only a little filling required,i painted the piece using Acrylic undercoats and finished in oils.

    Brian,

You must have received one of the first castings. I received one and it was really bad! Rubber stuck in the under cuts of the coat and chunks of the coat collar broke off and missing. Sent it back to the dealer and received a second one. Same result and the hat brim had a chunk broken out of it! Sent that one back also! To bad because Carl did a great job on the sculpt for it.

I love the subdued colour palette Brian. Lots of lovely natural tones and muted colours give this bust a sense of earthiness.

An excellent paint job. I particularly like the wood grain effect on the rifle, something I have not been able to capture well.

Rooster looks great Brian.Just curious...When you say finished in oils do you mean washes and shading?I noticed you started the vest sand colored and ended up more brown.
    Keep up the good work.........Regards.......Wayne
