    Hi Guys,
A superb piece from CGS of a French Infantryman circa 1796 in a very worn out uniform. This was typical for this revolutionary period.
This bust was a real joy to paint thanks to the awesome sculpt from my good friend Pavol Onecka.
I have painted this using Windsor Newton oils over an Acrylic base. The pallet that I use has only 5 colours; blue, red, yellow, titanium white and lamp black.
I hope that you like him.

    Hey there, good job.

    I seem to have seen this before ! ! ! !

    ;);) :):)

It is by a long way, one of the finest sculptures I have bought.

I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.

    Paul.

    Hi Paul,
You most likely know it inside out.
As you say it's a joy to paint.
I avoided the embroidery on the waistcoat as you advised, thank you.
I must have missed your finished version. I have been moving around a lot not always with internet available.
I will rake through and find it.
Always good to hear from you Mate.
    All the best,
    Keith

    Thank you Kevin,
The 5 paint tubes are worth giving a go. you really can hit any colour with a little thought and a colour wheel,
As Mr Bust you should think about getting one.
Hope all is well with you my friend.
    Best wishes,
    Keith

That is a lovely piece Keith (y)

I'm particularly impressed with with the brass buttons. Respect to anyone who can do NMM so well but to do it with such a limited palette is especially impressive. I enjoy painting with a limited palette (as you already know) but I'm still not brave enough to ditch my printers' metals just yet.

Thank you for the more than kind comments Mate.
Painting my buttons is a result of spending hours in galleries looking at the buttons, swords and curasses.
People give you somestrange looks when you have nose pressed against a particular button but it does work for me.
    Cheers Billy, stick with it,

It is a bit of a task to start with but starting with a colour wheel until you See what can be achieved soon gives the way forward

    HI Chris
Thanks for your kind comments Mate.
Not too many colours to juggle with but that's what comes from having short arms and deep pockets.

Whilst not getting close to your ability I still enjoyed dirtying up on this great piece.

    Hi Keith,

You've done a really nice job with this. He looks convincingly tatty. Even more impressive when it's all done with only 5 colours. Bravo. Hope all is well.
