    Hi all
I'm just starting the Spartan bust from young miniatures. Its a somewhat styalized Spartan that appears to be taken from the movie 300. The bust has been around for a few years so I'm sure many of you have had a crack at it.

I particularly enjoyed painting the cloak, it has lots of really great folds and was quite relaxing to do.

Its coming along well, perhaps a few more mid tones to finish it off.

If I'm going to be true to the movie the shield will be unpainted and bronze with lots of pitting, as will the helm - I'm looking forward to this to.

If any of you have had a go I'd love to see what you made of him.

    Further progress over the weekend.
A wonderful, if somewhat stylized, characterful head and cut body.

The face is looking very good and the cloak is excellent.

One of the fun parts of this project is working the bronze texture to look like in the movie. This was done by paining with a metallic then waxing the metal to a intense shine. Once dry its very hard to damage so can take a lot of weathering effects.

    Wow,

I love that effect Peter. Sure beats my idea of using my pin vice to drill thousands of tiny holes in the helmet and shield. Ruined the bust. I like your approach much better.
