    Decided on the horse colours for this trio : medium dark bay, medium light to mid bay, and a chestnut bay.

    Here is a couple of pictures of the undercoats for these horses painted on historex spare , one side is done with Scale 75 mars orange and the other with Scale 75 Gobi brown.

    The oils for the chestnut are , Base : burnt Sienna highlights napels yellow deep and shade a bit of burnt umber and Ivory black.
    The two bays the darker one being at the rear are , Burnt umber , tints brilliant yellow deep ,shades Ivory black.
    The front section Light bay is Vandyke brown ,tints as the one above and shades burnt umber and black

    These have just been painted so showing a lot of reflection but the oils will came down for sure

    The undercoat probably is the most important aspect , what goes on top is the easy part, as earth colours are the easiest of oil paints
