The sculpting of this bust really lends itself to a very pleasant painting experience. The flying helmet, which I originally looked at with trepidation, almost painted itself once I started applying the oil over an acrylic base, all thanks to the detail that Pavol has achieved. The rest of the bust was painted in oils for the face and acrylics for the body. Metals were a mixture of printers' inks, oils and some enamel.
Please feel free to make any comments you like. My skin is fairly thick.

I painted the lenses exactly the same as the flying helmet. Then I stained the area with Vandyke Brown oil paint until I got the depth I wanted (the level is purely a matter of choice). Once dry, I coated with humble Humbrol gloss varnish (at the same time that I coated the eyes).

I use an old short haired brush dipped in Paynes Grey (which is then almost completely removed on a cloth) and stippled gently over the shadow area. Any unwanted grey (eg. top of the lip) is removed using a clean brush dipped in turps, and almost totally dried before touching the figure.
