I've now arrived at the next stage of the painting which is the 4th bust out of 6,again as with the Sergeant major in the last post, this is another conversion of the CGS French dragoon, this time only minimal changes were made.
The head is from the CGS coldstream guard and the bicorne has been sculpted using magic-sculp,I also added the epaulettes, gorget and ammunition pouch from magic-sculp,the grenade insignia on the ammo pouch are from Historex spare parts.
The water canteen is from the dragoon kit and was a familiar type also used by the imperial guard.
The musket is also the dragoon musket with some minimal changes to convert it to the guard musket.

I have completed some of the face, only when I get near to completing the uniform and weathering will I totally finish the face.

The acrylic base colours have been laid in and I will shortly start to lay in the oils colours.

Super mate, the others will actually give you the reference tones to match
So you won't have too many probs matching up brian.
But there's the temptation to difference an officer for reasons of quality of clothing and so on, it will be hard to resist the pull of these thoughts.
I'm wishing you the 'very best of French luck' buddy.
    C'mon the smudge !

Many thanks Paul, the advantage for me Paul regarding officers and men is by the time the campaign started only the 1st and 2nd Grenadiers / Chassuers had any decent clothing, the rest of the guard regiments were quite poorly equipped, even to the point where musket slings were replaced by lengths of string, clothing being old and in poor condition, clothing being borrowed from other regiments, all in all a sad state of affairs, plus the very poor weather and ground conditions adding to the poor condition of the uniforms.
