Mark, Mash3d, I am aware that "one sided" or "thin" mesh can be made thick - there is a way to do it in Blender too, or In Zbrush using mask and transpose, or extract and then merge and dynamesh, (faster than using backfaceautomask and brushes), It just newer slipped my mind to do it that way - I was doing it as I would with clump of clay - extract from base mesh and then shape with move and brushes - I guess I'll have to try different approaches ;)
    Max, thx for the clarifications...

Golly! this whole debate has ignited in me a sense of guilt for having modeled a Nazi commander,,,,,:wideyed:

This whole thing reminds of a time I asked members of a toy soldier forum if they regarded sides as "good guys" or "bad guys" when playing with their soldiers. I was curious because I read someone refer to Soldados as bad guys playing the Alamo.
    What a hornets nest resulted!
    Never made that mistake again.

Finally in pose. Still needs a sculptural and adjustment pass, thickness, and chopping up. Will be seeing a printer on Tuesday to get costs and limits etc. :)

Id like to thank all of you for the crits and ideas for the pose etc. I'd especially like to thank Martin for his keen eye and friendship!

Please keep the conversation to the art. It is just and only that. Thanks PF friends!

Now it looks fantastic...folds of the uniform are now something completely different ;)
Looking forward to see it printed and to see how you overcome the problems with the skirt and the hair (printing and casting)...

Great result. I have never seen before someone develop a pose and gear digitally - very interesting WIP. Thanks for taking my suggestions into consideration and knowing that this is your first miniature I think the sky will be the limit for your future projects.
It would be great to see this thread avoiding further non-hobby-related discussions.
    All the best!

Only just found this thread....what excellent sculpting! Very life-like and natural pose and details. Quite stunning.
My only nitpick would be the hair. It's a bit spaghetti-ish. I think it would look better if strands would not be sculpted individually but more as general bulk shapes...hope that is remotely clear...
Then again, excellent work and welcome to PF. Hope to see more of your work.

    Cheers,
    Adrian

Sadly, most of the Irish girls I dated had hair like that!!! Great work...

Great final transformation, works for me! Definitely a workable figure for sniffin paint and gluin them fingers together.

Welcome to PF Mark, glad you're aboard.

    Cheers, Ski.

Nice sculpt! Something I wouldn't have a problem buying! I just wish these commentators would keep their political statements to themselves. Frankly I'm tired of reading about their political opinions and it's going along way to ruining this website. Please keep them to yourselves. If they paint any military figs then they are hypocrites. Just my opinion.
Keep up the great work Mark. I'd like to see this commercially available!

Bringing it up again when no one has said any such thing for 4 months probably doesn't help either, just my opinion.

You both make valid points. Keep it on topic (ie. no politics), and let's not drift off again into unpleasantness please.

I like this sculpt, but to me the face doesn't say what the gun does. I think the mouth could do with being turned down at the corners, just to add a hint of hardness. Other than that, great. And just to add a bit of politics-------- I HATE Tracey Emin, Damian Hirst and Grayson Perry ----- there, rant over:).
    Well done Mark(y).
    Best wishes, Gary.
