Hi,
This is my first posting of any figure I have painted. Having posted the thread Sods Law I felt I should do something other than winge. I am no Da Vinci, but it is only a hobby and it makes me happy. I chose this figure to do for no other reason than I like it. I may require help during this slow progress as I am not a Napoleonic buff.
I will only be using Vallejo with paint brush and Air Brush.
The figure came at great speed and well packed, only down side is the Pelisse resin is a tad thin and transparent, but can pad that out with no problems.
Feel free to comment, but don't take offence if your comments are to technical and it goes over my head. I Will add that Faces arn't my strong point if I have a strong point that is.

Don't knock yourself about painting. When I first started painting and posting what were, frankly, the dinner of dogs, I received nothing but friendly and supportive advice from PF. Because of that, I did improve a bit as I now paint dogs suppers lol. But trust me, the only way to learn is to do it. Something I need to do more.

Good luck with this figure. There's plnty of uniform details and braid to paint. Keep posting photos and asking questions as you go along. This will ensure you get the best advice when you need it most

I'm looking forwards to this Mick. My figure painting is amateur at best and I've never blogged one so bravo on taking the plunge.And what a lovely figure.

This is a figure that I would buy normally . 200 mm it's my size, beautifully sculpted,but why o why would someone send a Pellise out in the state that one is in? OK, yes an easy job to rectify, but it illustrates to me that some one has no regard for their customer, but will bung it out in the hope that no one complains. That has completely put me off now, and I would have parted with my money, but thanks for the review.

I've never had anything but excellent service from MMM both from Gordon and Ross. As mentioned it's an easy fix and I am sure they would have replaced it if asked, still it's easier to snipe from the sidelines than provide useful criticism

I agree with Helm, I have always had a first class service from MMM and I am 100% sure if I contacted Gordon or Ross a replacement would have been sent straight away if not sooner. I have just coated the inside with a thin coat of Deluxe Plastic putty, took less than a minute an ten min to dry job done.
Dont let a slight flaw that can be/ would be put right one way or another put you off a great model .

Steve I am not sniping from the sidelines, my comment as a customer are as valid as any one else's. My past experiences have not always been as good as yours. No doubt they would have replaced it, but my point is that it should not have gone out in the first place. Now I consider that to be useful criticism , and by mentioning , it gives them an opportunity to up their quality control. After all would you expect to run to and fro the shops all the time having faulty goods exchanged?

Just read this thread. I've no complaints at all about MMM and their quality. Frankly I'm a modeller, I'm clumsy and not very good but have fun and relaxation from this hobby and its associated research, reading etc. This means I break things sometimes and must fix them. This thin resin on the pelisse doesn't even look like a flaw to me and I wouldn't have registered it! If I were making the kit I know I'd possibly cause much more damage... I think it looks a superb piece.

Hi Viewers,
We have progressed slightly, I have glued the body to the legs, and tackey waxed the arm,and head to the body, the Pelisse has been placed about the shoulder.
All went together quite smooth. The right heel is ever so slightly off the ground but I should be able to get over that. The Pelisse repair has turned out perfect, Just needs a little filler around the waste and ready for primer.

I will follow this one with interest because this is one that I plan to have a go at in the future. Sorry that the casting of the pelise was poor, but I am sure that MMM would have replaced it quickly if brought to their attention.

Cirsgt Early days yet but it is a nice figure with no problems. Pelisse easy fixed, if it was a bigger problem then I would have sent it back. yes Im 110% sure MMM would have sorted it out.

My intentions are to mount the figure on the a base 5. 1/2 in X 4in..

I intend to paint the trousers/Pantaloons White as I cant see any other type of trouser going with the fancy Hessian boots. If this is correct then he would be attending a Ball , Evening party, or Eating out.

Sword Belt .....If the above is correct then I understand that the Sword belt and slings would be Black not White.??

As he appears to be dressed for a social occasion I have decided to place him on some cobble stones and not in a field or rough ground. Which begs the question what is he doing holding his telescope.??? Spying on the Dutchess of Richmonds Ball maybe

I will start with the face and head and work down. Any hints or a advise will be greatly appreciated .
