    Darn neat mate!
Especially like your dark colours in this one :)
What were your mixes for the jacket as I have one of these to paint soon too.

Will look great beside that little Komet too.

    Stay safe,
    Mike

Nice job Mario! This is painted as nicely as I have ever seen for this old figure. But, I am sorry to say, the flight suit is not appropriate for a Komet pilot. The Komet carried a highly volatile fuel that was highly corrosive to nearly anything organic. The pilot's seat was essentially nestled between two tanks of this nasty stuff! Because of this, Komet pilots were issued special "acid proof" clothing. It did not work very well, but I guess it was better than nothing. The link below will explain:

    http://robdebie.home.xs4all.nl/me163/clothing.htm

The flight suit on this figure would be appropriate for nearly any other late war Luftwaffe aircraft. I always wanted to display it with a Heinkel He-162. An Me-262 or Arado Ar-234 would be equally cool.

Also, the ear pieces on the helmet should be semi-gloss black. Equally, the Nietsche and Gunther goggles had a shiny black plastic frame. Most lenses with these goggles were dark tinted although plain clear ones were used sometimes. I hope this helps!

    Keep up the good work!

    A beautifully painted figure.

Easy fixes for Mario should he so wish, and useful tips for the rest of us! (y)

Another reason NOT to pose him with a Komet! The T-Stoff and C-Stoff fuel were highly (and notoriously) explosive. You wouldn't want to be smoking near one.

    Hey Mike
The jacket has an undercoat of Andrea burnt sienna and then boldly shadowed and highlighted ,then 80% lamp black 15% sepia. 5% burnt umber oils with some Liquin for transparency and shine ,then shadows with black and highlights with burnt sienna chrome yellow and titanium white mix .the trousers had more black and no burnt umber for a slight variation .

    Cheers Neil

Thanks Mike for the kind comments and advice .I have been a fan of your work for prob 20 odd years and I believe your pilots are by far the best on the market .
I obviously didn't think my choice of aircraft through ,so after a quick scan of Ebay I think I will pose him next to a salamander ,another cool looking late war Luftwaffe aircraft. Prob is now I have no pilot for the Komet ,hint hint.
I will also go back and change the helmet ,didnt pick up the black on the reference photos cause the leather was so dark .

    Thanks again for the advice
