I have just recently completed the box art painting of this excellent 1/32 scale figure, sculpted by Benoit Chauchies for David Allen of Wings Cockpit Figures. The figure has been sculpted ,so as to be leaning against his aircraft. The figure is sculpted in the likeness of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker.

    Hi John,
1)What is your base base mix color for the uniform?
    2) Do you work with lightning on base mix color on upper folds and also (of course) on umbers?
This last cause I ask myself questions as I see many figs all arounds the the forums and contest reports with almost no contrast (base, light, umber) but with more umber contrast? What could you say about that?
    Thanks
    Pascal

That is fabulous! All we need now is a SPAD XIII or Nieuport 28 in 1/32 from Wingnuts to lean him against. Incredible likeness of Rickenbacker in small 1/32 scale.
    Love it!

Hi Pascal, I used Vallejo English Uniform as for the base color of the uniform and small amounts of Andrea Dark Green and Jo Sonja Burnt Umber. For the highlights I added Jo Sonja white and for the shadows Jo Sonja Black and Burnt Umber.

    John:)

Thanks for that, I have found the AK interactive colour's 'WWIBritish uniform set' too dark for the shade and too light on the highlight. I am glad you have put this up as I will try this on the next one.

Hobbycraft has had a quite good Spad XIII kit available for many years. It is not a Wingnuts kit, but I would say that it is right behind them in quality. Then Roden do a very nice Nieuport 28 kit, also in 1/32nd scale......
