After quite a few weeks absence completing other projects I have now made a start on the first 2x Imperial guard busts.

The wounded sergeant I am about 60% through the face painting stage,i still have some more work to do in the flesh and wound areas,i also need to add some more detail to the facial hair.
The bearskin I am about 50% finished on this, some more shading and blending together with the tassle and cockade and the bearskin top with the grenade which at this stage is only base coated.
I always have a couple of days face painting as I tend to lose some contrast overnight so a further day touching in areas is normally required.

The 2nd bust is the eagle bearer, with this one at this stage only the first stage of face painting is complete, more lights and shadow need to be added tomorrow, base coat has been laid in for the bearskin plate and facial hair areas, some grey lights have been laid onto the bearskin, these will be toned down with acrylic and oil washes until satisfied.

Outstanding Brian. Would you mind sharing your palette for the bearskin on the wounded guard? My attempts always seem to come out quite flat

    Cheers
