    Dear Friends,

Just started on this tiny project(or more of an experiment to see if its worth the time to maybe start a bigger battle diorama) ,after dusting off my ooold Zvezda sets - their Mongols are the best 1/72 set I ever encountered. I have ran out of primer during spraying, hence not everything was covered perfectly.

    Cheers,Piotr

Scene coming together nicely, some doubts whether a heavily armoured horse would be led onto an uneven stony terrain like this in full gallop, but its your vision.
    Looking forward to further progress

That's true, but it is amazing groundwork and has a good visual impact. The base is much more appealing than a flat field covered in static grass. I think it adds to the figure. I like it.

Next you'll be telling us cavalry will never charge up hill ;) unless you know they do,see the Heavy Brigade at Balaclava for details. Personally think it's a lively looking bit of work. especially in such a tiny scale

Thank you for your comments, Gaudin,Marc,Pete and Steve! As far as terrain, it was just experimenting little with milliput, crushed plaster and cork , just playing with it curious where it will take me and trying to imagine a larger scene in my head;).
    Cheers!

But since its in 1/72 wouldn't the horse be lighter proportionally?o_O:LOL:

I think it looks pretty kool IMHO. What is the terrain built on top of? Some kind of jar or bottle top?
I had thought of trying bark or crumbled cork as rocks or boulders... these look great so I may have to try it on my next base.

Thanks Colin, it will be part of a larger scene ,it is just a plastic top of a detergent bottle but it will be sank into terrain and it will dissappear - as far as cork I really invite you to try it , great results, bark is also awesome and easy and quick to turn it into rocks .Im recently redoing one of my McFarlanes and bark really worked as a good base.

Interesting piece, always glad to see Mongols. The pose would be better if the archer was at full draw and the bow needs reducing in width.I believe the Fireforge Heavy Mongols are due out very shortly,Will be interesting to see how they compare . It does show you what can be achieved with a piece costing a few pence

You got me curious about Fireforge ,Jenghiz ;) (embarassed to admit Ive never heard of them) and I checked them out on google ..but IMHO Zvezda Mongols are still better , but I realize this is Fireforge beta version ,not a final one. Always glad to see more Mongols on the market!(y)
