Still a few things to fix and a few bits to add on this one, but a lot of it is complete. This is based on a well-known illustration. I've seen two different versions and different titles of this illustration - "A drop for me mate" and "Sharing his water". I kinda prefer the first title.

1/16th scale and a combination of original cast parts, kit parts, some wood, some twine and sculpting in various colors of 2 part putties.

Note that the horseman is not permanently fixed to the base. That's why he's leaning a bit. All the horse and horseman figures [I'm working on 8 at last count!!!:grumpy:;) ] will have the horseman separate so the painter won't become unhinged trying to paint behind and under saddles, saddle bags, etc. I'm hoping the painter will be able to pour acrylic water from the open canteen (water bottle) into the horseman's hat. Should be tricky but possible.

    Hope you like it!

    All the best,
    Dan

Looks great Dan. Is this commercial or are you referring to some yet to be determined mystery painter of a one off? Either way it will be excellent once completed.

Great work Dan, that's a beautiful scene to depict. Shows the tremendous bond between the trooper and his mount.

Colin, Andy and Tony - Many thanks gents! I'm really honored that you said that Andy! Big fan of your stuff! But the story really came from the original illustrator, not me. I just know a good visual story when I see one. :)

No intent to do this [or any of the 8 projects] commercially Colin. I'm just havin' fun. I've talked with Bob Stein about offering some of the cast parts used on the 8 projects. He could sell them thru his web site. Would that interest anybody?

No painter so far. Whoever it is would be paid and I definitely want all 8 of the horse projects back long enough to show them a couple of times, then I'd probably sell them. Personally not much of a collector. Just enjoy making the pieces.

    All the best,
    Dan

Many thanks Ulrich, Nap, Mike, Offo, Zastrow, Marc, Rompy, & Kevin Dunne. You are all most kind and generous! Kevin - Maybe one of the commercial figure makers will want to pick up on this and have a pro do a version.
