Peedee, you must be the senior one out of us all on here. I take my hat off to you , being a mere lad born 16 th July 1943 myself. And still my wife tells me that I need to grow up.

With age comes wisdom I was told.

Great work and concept, will be interested to see how you stage these figures. How about a backdrop of a defiant Imperial eagle, or is that to OTT?

    Brian,
I'll be really interested to see your plans for a background. The only observation / reservation I might have is does it need it?
I think this is so good that the viewer creates the background in his (her) minds eye.

    Well Brian,
I've read through all 11 pages of the thread so far,
and whilst there's been a lot of people back slapping you for the work done so far.
I'm sorry, but I have to say, in all honesty

I agree with every positive word.
It's a marvellous concept, beautifully executed in matching different sculpts together into a harmonius group.

    I abso-flippin-lootly love it.

I hope it encourages more peolpe to take an idea, and put it together in their own way.

    Regards

Managed to get back to add some more updates !

With the grenadier in service dress I completed some more detail on the epaulettes and have also added a bicorn cover which was sometimes strapped to the rear of the knapsack.

With the 5th bust I wanted to portray the campaign dress of a lieutenant but with a rolled greatcoat, with this bust I again used the CGS French dragoon but with hardly any alterations,i added epaulettes and some additional crossbelt work at the rear, however I got carried away at my last sitting and added a full epaulette to the right shoulder, this is INCORRECT and should only have the partial epaulette,i will correct this at my next visit,it was common for officers to wear the rolled greatcoat, possessions were often kept in the greatcoat and also served as protection against sabre cuts.
Most illustrations will show officers wearing the rolled greatcoat over their left shoulder but I have found pictures and illustrations with it being over the right shoulder, with the dragoon having it already on the right shoulder I thought I would leave it,as far as I'm aware there's no historical correctness over which shoulder it was worn.
The bicorn was sculpted to shape and sanded, however there is still some shaping and detail work to add to the bicorn yet so it is in no way finished,(many thanks to my good friend Gary Higgins for guiding me through the process of sculpting a bicorn, that was a couple of great hours spent at Gary's house learning this)(y).
It is also common for the officers to have swords but again I found plenty of contempory prints and paintings showing officers with muskets, more so in this desperate struggle,i've managed to get hold of of a lovely book which is a series of 9 called Waterloo 1815 'Les Carnets De LA Campagne No 9',its mostly French text but has some excellent pictures of the guard at waterloo, again I must point out these are images portayed by artists over many years and may or may not be true, however these sort of pictures are very inspiring to the modeller and I love them.
