    Hi Gsry ,

Here is a quirky fact ..if you look at the pictures of both orginal and repro pistols there are 2 notches on one ...apparently he put them there after killing 2 enemy very early on in his career ........

Think it was against Pancho Villa in 1915 !

Just noticed them ..will be putting them on!...fear not!

    You didn't argue with GSP!

    Hi Guys

    Thanks for the comment

    Gary ,

Cheers for the details , might carefully cut 2 into the grip ..or run scared and paint them in!....that You tube stuff is good thanks.

    Keith,
No worry I have several ..for reference of course ...glad I make you smile!!

    Wayne ,

The Water soluable Oils are just that you can treat them exactly the same as normal ones but use water ( distilled) I actually use ones in the Cobra range using blending medium as I would with my acrylics , I work them to the mixes then apply with a 6 " brush!....let them dry down and then use acrylics on top .....W & N also do their own in the Artisan series .

    Thanks for looking in everyone

Nap....kinda funny.....I'm prepping "Nuts''...Lord of Lions bust and trying to visualise where I'm going with the face.........And I'll be dipped in dog doodo if the face you are working on almost nails it as far as color tone goes........Grey hair....shading......Not looking for too much tan though.......Thanks........Wayne:)

Super painting on the head Kevin.
Your blend from flesh to receding grey hair is very realistic.
This fellow is right up there with your best work my friend.
    All the best,

    Hi Guys ,

You are far too kind and thanks

    Wayne/Keith

Still got about 2 hours work on it , slightly lighten the flesh highs and shadow/tone the hair a bit , particularly happy with comments about hair ...off to do ironing first!

And of course the open mouth needs doing!

    Happy modelling folks

The Patton bust is impressive! The use of soluble oils for leather work is something you have really puled off, using the sponge really made a stipple wffect work.

I'll be pinching that technique, and will have to buy some soluble oils.

The other busts are great, the Dracula one, ah, rude word practice trying to paint eyes in a confined area, kudos for your results!!

    Cheers

    Hi Jamie ,

Thanks for comments , the Patton bust is rather nice ( you can get one from RP just pm Hugo or e mail..you won't regret it mste) ..good chance to play around with leather effects .....

Update ...all finished except putting the 2 cuts on the left pistol grip ..quick check over . Piccys , post on PF and FB and that is it .

As for sponge work ..I dragged this out of my deep and dark distant childhood when cutting up my grandmothers sponge to try a paint a horse !....rather than stipple you can also wipe the surface colour away to leave deep shadows ...and of course it does not have to be water soluable oils ..just what I use

Dracula ...pleased with finish ...very confined area ...lots of mutterings and coffee!

    Thank for looking in
