Coming along beautifully Mike. As everyone has said, the textures are out of this world and VERY realistic

    Hi Ben & Nick,

You know there's a couple of Aussie versions of this in the kit supplied - one helmet & one with slouchie ;)

I'm making it look like long, hard work. Not at all!
Recommend you have a crack at this one too :)

    Oooh, the final push Mike?

Can't help thinking of that line from Blackadder Goes Forth about General Haig trying to move his drinks cabinet six inches closer to Berlin.:D

Hi Tony - seems appropriate in some way**
    Though I'm a Flasheart kinda guy ;)

Slight delay in push - weather too good & life has interrupted :)

    More photos soon.

    Thanks mate!

Hi Andrew & Steve, pleasing to hear you're both getting some value from this overly long thread.
Trust me project isn't as daunting as I'm seeming to make it ;)

Latest quik'n dirty photos as right side comes together.
    What do you reckon guys?

    Thanks,
    Mike

The texture is so effective it would be criminal not to have a go at applying your technique.
Achieving a similar result is another matter, but as Steve mentioned, 'practice' is the operative word.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

The latest pics are stunning Mike. Nice work on the blanket in the backpack. You can see the weave and stiches in the fabric. is that some dried Passchendaele mud I see on the elbow and lower sleeve?

FYI - I have the Private Baldrick bust from Elan13 and have already made a start on it. Like a number of recent projects that I've started, its now wrapped in bubble wrap and packed back in the box waiting for the right moment for me to have another go. Personally, I'm more a Lieutenant George type myself - whoops, poop, twiddle dee dee.

Hey Mike.....Just caught up......for a while there, I thought you might have cashed in....Lucky you stayed away a while lest getting a verbal thrashing with this recast thing.

You are so scary Tony & now starting to worry me ;)
I'm sure you'll appreciate "the wind in your hair" too! :)

Yes bit of dried mud on Charlie's sleeve is what I'm trying to achieve without overdoing it.
I don't have the courage of weathering like you mate, hope to suggest his world in a small way.
Some how a Lewis Gunner just has to have rested his weary arms on the edge of a parapet somewhere to be authentic. The thing weighed so much even the strongest bloke would be looking for an opportunity to put it down for a rest ;)

    Make sense?

Hi Andrew, not sure if it's that special - no real black magic mate.
If you think it may liven up or get a "realistic" tone in to yor figures give it a go.
Would be keen to see what you or others find as you adopt/adapt my experiments.

    Stay safe
