This is one of seven rider and horse vignettes I have started. It's further along than any of the others. Roughly 1/16th scale. I started with a Verlinden horse, a head, boots and some other kit and spare parts and the remainder is mixes of Magic Sculpt in grey and brown and Kneadatite (green). I apologize for the confusing color scheme. I'm experimenting with using the different colors to help me see detail and it seems to help some.

The horse saddle and all the other horse tackle was sculpted and then some of it was cast by Bob Stein. I need to ask Bob to cast the slouch hat and 'ostrich' feathers.

The vignette is intended as an homage (not a copy) and is based on Ron Marshall's Light Horse painting, "Sharing His Water". I've also seen this or a very similar painting entitled, “A Drop for My Mate”. There must be some good reason why he did two paintings of the same subject, but I don't know the answer.

When I'm done, hope to have a talented painter complete the project including showing acrylic water pouring from the canteen (water bottle) into the horseman's slouch hat.

    Hope you like it!

    All the best,
    Dan

Thank you Steve, Kenneth, Ulrich and Palo!

Kenneth - I believe the evocative nature of the subject has almost everything to do with Mr. Marshall and his painting and not much to do with me.

Anyway, glad everyone seems to like it!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ONE AND ALL!
