Nice. I assume "Spanish cuirassier" means the 13me Regiment? If so, I thought they wore a madder red habit of locally obtained dyes rather than the bright purple shown. Am I missing something? Just curious.

Thanks - that is indeed the French 13me, which I believe started life as the 3me provisional, dressed in the same material monks' robes were made if due to lack of availability of the standard dark blue. The cuirass trim would still be the standard red edged white.

Thanks Eduardo. That's what I was winder ine as I know nothing of the Spanish army. Cool idea to have this as a possible French or Spanish piece. I am still a bit suspicious of the purple tunic but that's OK.

UNIFORMS 13E CUIRASSIERS
Early in his training regiment is of course our motley since s' mingle held various regiments of cuirassiers (but mainly with the distinctive scarlet color) and "Carabiniers"
The "Carabiniers" wanted to keep their "Bonnet d'ourson" and form a kind of company elite.
At the beginning clothes lapel various distinctive colors.
In 1809 the regiment purchased 400 pants sheet and is making surtouts, and did not received leather pants or trousers.
These pants are likelyhood brown sheet but fit into the boots (and not "the Mameluke" as they are often shown)
In 1811, before Valencia captain Gonneville accurate, i was without armor and English saddle.
It was in 1812 that the 13th became Leather make clothes especially the 1810 regulatory model
In July 1812 receives a convoy effects from Pau, Oloron, Zaragoza escorted by men of the regiment, vests, jackets, pants stables, leather pants, boots, shoulder pads, gloves, stripes .... It s team so with the order.

That bust depicts a Spanish cuirassier, that is, a cuirassier of the Spanish army, not a French one. The Spanish army formed one squadron of cuirassiers who used cuirasses and helmets captured from the French. They wore red tunics with green (some sources say blue) facings.
As a side note, the brown cloth extensively used in Spain (and southern France) at the time had nothing to do with monks. It was made of the cheapest available wool, that from brown sheep!

In fact, you can make any regiment of cuirassier, French, Polish and Spanish !
