Kevin, of course the US took (a big) part in Market Garden. I thought these busts were gonna be specifically about Arnhem though, and not about the bigger operation. That's what the original post said. Never mind, it's a great bust whatever the context.

That's exactly what I thought. That it was about those actually in Arnhem.

Great sculpting Pavol. My fault in respect of the Arnhem theme and as most have spotted it should be Market Garden. Initially there will be three busts but this selection could be built on. Some great ideas for further subjects in the posts but some of my favourite characters would be Joe Vandleur and Boy Browning. Not sure about French for this particular operation (have you been on the rum rations Mike)but the Free Dutch were certainly present. A cast of thousands.
Keep up the great work Pavol

For Arnhem proper, other Brit options include Shan Hackett, Boy Browning, Freddie Gough.....I could keep going. For the Germans Harzer, Model, kraft etc. Sosabowski was recently done as a bust and done well as I recall.

You are my favourite personality sculptor right now Offo. Your work is so accurate and inspiring.

    Cheers

Hi friends, thank you very much for your contributions. Today I was outside the PC. And now I'm surprised by the amount of contributions that have been added here.
It is true that this series is a patron Gordon.
And it is also true that John Frost, the second figure in this series.
And another one is ...........? But mainly to decide the patron of this series Gordon.
    And again thank you.

A fantastic actor Filipe. He played so many German officer parts but I think one of his best was the Prussian captain in Cross of Iron.

Don't know about 'enlisted men' (surely other ranks or 'ORs'), but Jeremy Clarkson's father in law won one at Arnhem - I don't know what rank he held.

    Hi All.
I've recently bought this bust and was wondering if anyone knew the colour of his overcoat. The only photo I can find like it is the actual one that Palo used to work from and posted at the start of this thread.

I would go a slighlty different colour of feldgrau than his uniform. Perhaps a bit greener.

For USA - if you're going for 'heroes' rather than the key big players - surely should be Major Julian Cook, who lead the Waal river crossing (played by Robert Redford in the movie)

Duh! Think I just had a seniors moment:confused:......I've already bought a couple of busts from this series (Nicholson RAF and McDonald SAS). Somehow I overlooked the rest. May have to go back and place an order with Ross.
