Well, next post should do it, unless you have another BBQ. Had a mate who had some friends overand stayed a bit late, they didn't get the hint even when he got into his PJs.

    Hi colin

Nearly their mate, you should have gone to your paint room and left them to it lol, I know it's always hard to ask people to leave when the beer is flowing and everyone is having a great time.

must say it's the first one I've seen so looking forward to it been finished, our box art is nearly ready Pepe Gallardo has been working on it for us so we are excited to see what he has done. Now can't wait to see what you do with our Drummer, keep it up mate

Keith, I'd be interested to see your work on canvas. Is that where you started your painting experience? I used to do wall murals in artist's acrylics in a past life and still occasionally doodle with pencil or pen and ink.

I know the figure you're talking about... very nice sculpt indeed, but as you said, a tad static. I do like a figure to have a little action going on. One more infantryman leaning on his musket or cavalryman leaning on his sword is enough to stretch my last nerve.

    Cheers

Ian and Zane, I often retire to the "studio" when I tire of being sociable... unfortunately, this time it was family, for Mama's birthday... the whole family rarely gets together anymore... There were three kids from my two cousins (the oldest is 4) that I met for the first time. The wife and mother would have killed me if I snuck off :blackeye:

Hopefully only one or two more sessions.

Ian, how's the drummer coming? Started casting yet? Pretty please?

    Hi Colin
This is my latest effort on canvas. not quite finished but not too much left to do.
Oddly enough my first painting was on a wall in my bedroom when I was about ten. Dad was not to pleased as it was a 1:1 scale 11th Hussar in Humbrol Enamels. It took him ages to remove and cover it when I left home.
    Cheers,
    Keith

Very nice work Keith... very soft and subtle transitions. Great work on the eyes.
I started murals, painting skulls, dragons and fantasy warriors in my band's rehearsal studio, then when the wife was preggers, I did a huge Disney mural in the nursery. Got a few commisions after that. The poor single guy that took the apartment when we moved had to sand then off right to the plaster... guess he didn't want to bring women back to a Disney bedroom :ROFLMAO:

A little touching up to be done where the masking tape was removed. I have a couple of pieces of battle debris to add as well.

The rifle is started, so, one more sitting and I'm DONE!!!!!!!

I like it, doesn't look like a piece of birthday cake now that the tape has been removed, could you post a pic looking down at the base.

The flowers and tufts of weeds are manufactured. The grass is medium flock "static" grass, but rather than sprinkle it over white glue which tends to let it lie flat... I covered small areas with super glue, pinched small tufts of the grass off a piece of paper and applied the tufts (end down) in the glue. I tried to keep the placement and concetration as random as possible.

The weed tufts, I bought at the Fort York show in the fall (you were with me when I bought them)... I don't have the packaging anymore, but I remember they are from a German maker. The flowers I picked up at Hornet Hobbies on O'Conner in their model train terrain section... They have a huge selection of small flowers, plants and bushes along these lines.

You should drop in there next time you're in Hogtown
